There is a distinct magic to Africa – a pull that transforms simple holidays into life-altering memories. Capturing that magic and translating it into unforgettable guest experiences requires a special combination of operational strategy, deep passion, and exceptional sales leadership.

Nadine Muller, Discover Africa’s new Commercial Director, brings this in spades. She joins the team with a wealth of diverse travel and hospitality experience, with tenures at Bushwise and Go2Africa. Nadine is poised to help our safari experts thrive, bringing her refined commercial expertise and customer-first service excellence to the forefront of sustainable luxury travel.

Bringing Sales Expertise to the Safari Landscape

Nadine’s strength lies in her high-level sales and commercial background. She views her role not as the sole expert, but as the ultimate enabler for the passionate sales consultants on her team.

“I’m not a safari expert. I am a sales expert, and while I really enjoy doing that in the safari landscape, I come from a wide range of travel and hospitality backgrounds,” Nadine explains. “Where I stand out is enabling consultants with the sales skills to really bring the knowledge that they have to light.”

By structuring and amplifying the talent at Discover Africa, Nadine is focused on creating a seamless, impactful journey for travellers from their very first enquiry.

A Lifelong Love for Africa

Though her professional background spans a wide range of sectors, Nadine’s personal connection to the African continent runs deep. Some of her most defining childhood memories were forged in the wild.

“Something that will always stick with me is staying on a houseboat in the Okavango Delta with my grandparents when I was 10 years old. There is nothing like the Delta – it just makes you feel so small and insignificant. That really stuck with me.”

For Nadine, Africa’s power lies in its raw, unfiltered beauty and its deep cultural tapestry.

“Africa is like nothing else on Earth. Many places have amazing cultures and incredible cities and, to some extent, interesting wildlife. But Africa is all of that supercharged,” she says.

“There’s just such a diverse cultural spread that has so many beautiful roots in history. Just in Uganda, for example, there are 36 tribes, all of whom speak different languages – you can’t find something like that anywhere else. You discover that before you go mountain gorilla trekking.

“The contrast of culture and wildlife in these really beautiful and untouched landscapes is second to nothing. Also, I would put my money on that we have the best sunsets in the world.”

The Art of Letting Go to Find the Magic

Nadine’s advice for people travelling to Africa is simple: “Let go. It’s often when things don’t go according to plan that little moments of magic happen – it’s these moments that become amazing memories. If you can let go of being really rigid and executing everything on time, that’s when Africa really reveals itself to you.”

Sales as a Force for Good

For Nadine, commercial success in the travel industry is inseparable from conservation and ethical tourism. She strongly believes that sales professionals are the frontline guardians of responsible travel.

“I’m a huge advocate for private concessions and conservancies – not following the herds (no pun intended!). If done well, organisations like ours can continue to support properties that are responsible and have impact initiatives. Then I think travel does only wonderful things. It’s our responsibility to do it the right way.”

It’s from this that Nadine’s passion for sales as an educational role comes in.

“That’s why I feel so strongly about the responsibility that sales professionals in this industry carry because we’re the first point of education. It’s not just booking holidays; we should see it as our responsibility to educate how people make decisions about the properties they choose and how they choose to travel.”

Designing the Next Generation of Discover Africa

Nadine is incredibly excited about the future as Commercial Director. Her goal is to take the deep-rooted passion of Discover Africa’s leadership and team and build a highly structured, forward-thinking framework around it.

“Having worked in a commercial role and led sales organisations through so many different versions of travel and education across many different sectors, I think it’s easy to know what works and what doesn’t.

“The wonderful thing about Discover Africa is not only having leadership that’s so passionate and loves what they’ve built so much, but also having a group of people who fundamentally believe in what it stands for and the opportunities that exist.”

Nadine looks forward to collaborating closely with our expert team to deliver life-changing, responsible journeys.

“Discover Africa is owned and run by passionate Africans – this continent is in our blood, and it matters deeply to us who we bring into this family. With Nadine, we knew straight away. Her commercial expertise speaks for itself, but it’s her genuine love for Africa and its people that truly set her apart. Together, we’re going to create even more meaningful journeys – rooted in care, integrity, and a real commitment to conservation,” says Discover Africa Co-Founder, Steve Conradie.

Join us in giving Nadine a warm welcome to the Discover Africa family!
